Hi, I bought Tally Ho! Last year. Boat is comming along nicely, with help with 2.members of the group I managed to get all the sail rigging done and had some sailing time on her.

I have a couple of questions, where is the best place to get a cover made, and pref a company that’s familiar with this type of boat?

Also 2nd Q, I’m planning to do my rya II on my boat hopefully next year, and going to do open water on her off the Norfolk coast,

I would obviously be with an instructor, though may not be familiar with the boat setup and layout. For a sailing novice (not on motor boat on the sea), what would be the max sailing limit for weather conditions on open water?

    Thanks Tony

I would keep to a steady F3 or F4, especially with an instructor on board.
If you are based around Norfolk, and Wroxham area, you might try Jeckells of Wroxham http://jeckells.net/covers

    That’s great thanks.
Atm I’m try8ng to find a east coast training school that does bilge keels, so far I haven’t had any luck, also suitable launching facilities. Has anyone any suggestions where to try? I was looking to do my rya II next year. I’ve exhausted the main rya website.

    Thanks Tony

    Hi Tony,
We have a couple of members who sail on the Norfolk Broads. The Lysander is a large Dinghy really, the bilge keels allow for more space within the cabin.
I have looked on the RYA web site for Norfolk, and there are a number of centres that could help. It is probably worth looking at Dinghy sites (obviously capsize is not an issue) as the Lysander handles like a large dinghy and all the rigging is identical.

The Swallowtail boat yard at Ludham would be able to get your boat on the water and they understand the Lysander as our chairman keeps his Lysander there and the boat yard have helped in the maintenance. Also the Broads are a wonderful place to get used to the boat in relative safety.

    I hope this helps
